In the transport industry, health and safety are an absolute priority to ensure that our teams are protected against daily operational risks. We take concrete action to promote their well-being by actively participating in the Quality of Working Life Week, distributing fresh fruit every week, and sponsoring sports events. This approach is complemented with regular training on workplace safety and healthy eating, deeply embedding prevention in our branch culture.
"Leading a stand-up": responding to realities on the ground
Every week, a 15-minute flash meeting, known as a “stand-up”, is held in our branches’ loading bays. Once a month, a safety-related topic chosen by the quality team is discussed at the meeting. To ensure that these stand-up sessions are properly conducted and that safety issues are included in them, Heppner’s Training and Quality teams have developed a specific training course for bay team leaders.
The 38th resolution of the SafetyFirst@Heppner programme, this training endows managers with greater effectiveness in terms of technique (managing speaking time, tempo, etc.) and offers a response to needs in the field (safety subjects, management of complex managerial situations, etc.).
This training has been rolled out internationally since 2024.
Mandatory QSE (Quality, Safety, Environment) training from 2026
Following joint work by the Group’s CSR, QSE and Training teams during 2025, a new mandatory training course on QSE will be rolled out in 2026 for all employees.
Available in 5 languages (French, English, German, Spanish and Dutch), it is structured around 4 modules covering quality, safety, environment and health, respectively. Completion will be validated by a 12-item questionnaire for which a score of 80% is expected.
The "inspiring management" award at Preventica 2024
Heppner was recognised at the Strasbourg Preventica show for its innovative and inspiring SafetyFirst@Heppner programme.

The SafetyFirst@Heppner programme has been designed with input contributed by all our field, support and management teams, and with the support of the Group‘s Senior Management. Today, this new safety culture is taking root in our practices, with a real awareness of the issues at stake. This award motivates us to continue our efforts to further improve everyone‘s safety, at all our sites.
